Quick, how much is your antique worth?

If you don’t know, bring it down to the Art and Antique Appraisal Fair and Salon Social on Sept. 13 at ArtServe in Fort Lauderdale.

Representatives from Frederick Fine Art Gallery in Oakland Park, Decorative Arts & Fine Antiques and Abington Auction Gallery & Estate Liquidators, both in Fort Lauderdale, will provide estimates on home pieces and items. The event is organized by the Venetian Arts Society.

In organizing the event, William Riddle, president of the Venetian Arts Society, said he took into consideration the popularity of TV shows such as PBS’s “Antiques Roadshow.” He also said South Florida is a regular stop for antique shows.

“I thought it would be a great opportunity and something different that we haven’t done,” Riddle said.

Categories include jewelry, American Indian art, books, manuscripts and furniture.

If you can’t transport the item to the event, bring along a photograph. The event will be followed by an art social, which will include music, refreshments and highlights from the day’s appraisals.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit The Stonewall National Museum and Archives.
