Fort Lauderdale Art Salons
who attended the unique performances by jazz vocalist Jane Monheit at the Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale in March was witness to what a special setting Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale offered both for her stylish vocals and engaging personality. The Up Close & Personal performances are presented by Venetian Arts Society and William Riddle Productions, LLC at Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale/Nova Southeastern University. This series includes an intimate and interactive Salon Concert in the 256 seat Horvitz Auditorium, followed Saturday morning by a non-traditional masterclass and interview entitled A Conversation With the Artist. The Saturday morning event paired Monheit’s singing with a Q&A opportunity for the audience, which included vocal students from local colleges and high schools. Both the Salon Concert and the Conversation allowed the audience intimate access to Monheit, a two-time Grammy nominee who has performed at Carnegie Hall and such hallowed New York jazz halls as Birdland, The Rainbow Room and the Blue Note. One Monheit fan proclaimed the venue perfect and said she had never imagined the singer could be casual and personable.
