Fort Lauderdale Art Salons

An Old World Art Salon Setting

The Venetian Arts Society (VAS) was hosted within the old-world opulence of Decorative Arts & Fine Antiques (DAFA)/Frederick Fine Art last Thursday evening by Debbie and Craig Mayor (DAFA) and Lars Hegelund (Frederick Fine Art). Debbie, Craig, and Lars graciously welcomed the monthy VAS Art Salon at their most impressive and just plain “magical” gallery and gave us all the opprtunity to have the Art Salon experience within a grand 19th century setting.

The theme for April’s Art Salon was “The Art of Collecting Antiques and Fine Art,” and Lars Hegelund honored us with his insight. Lars is the owner of Frederick Fine Art and partner of DAFA and is an extremely accomplished and knowledgable art collector, scholar, and dealer. Thank you, Lars, for sharing this knowledge and experience with us and stressing the fact that, in regards to art,  ‘beauty is in the eye of the beholder” and meant be part of our living environment…it does not have to be Rembrandt, to bring us joy…

On Thursday evening, two of our extraordinarily talented members, Michael Battle and Jeremy Zglobicki, gave cameo performances of a world class level. Michael played two of his original compositions that are included on his newest CD, “Reflections,” to be released within the next few weeks. Venetian Arts Society is proud to announce a CD Launch Gala for “Reflections” on Tuesday evening, July 24 at 7:30 PM at Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale. Jeremy graced  us with a stunning and riveting rendition of “Music of the Night’ from “Phantom of the Opera” in recognition of a concert/fundraiser next Thursday evening, April 26, at Cinema Paradiso entitled “Music of the Night.” Next Thursday’s concert is for the scholarship fund of Broward International Womens Club to Nova Southeastern University and will feature four young American opera singers in a program of the greatest moments of opera, yesterday and today.

On behalf of VAS and our guests, I would like to thank Debbie, Craig, and Lars, (DAFA/Frederick Fine Art), Michael Battle, and Jeremy Zglobicki for the most charming and complete VAS Art Salon to date. The VAS vision for an “intimate and interactive artistic experience within an artistic atmosphere” became reality! To complete the Art Salon, DAFA engaged “By Word of Mouth,” another Fort Lauderdale legend, to cater the event. I can only say “bravissimo”…not only delicious, but absolutely beautifully and artisitically presented.

Please take advantage of the opportunity to visit DAFA/Frederick Fine as it is, by far, the largest and most comprehensive collection of high quality antiques and fine art in the Fort Lauderdale area and has an international reputation as a legend in the industry of antiques and art. This local treasure trove is located at 3263 North Dixie Highway Fort Lauderdale, Fl 33334 ( on block north of Oakland Park Boulevard on the west side of Dixie Hwy) and is a “must see” for anyone, connoisseur or amateur.

Please visit www.DAFAInc.com and www.FrederickFineArt.com.

I hope to see all of you at our upcoming events.

All my best wishes,

Willie
